Super Saver: What to Buy in September

September brings Fall colors, pumpkin spice EVERYTHING and hopefully, one day this month, sweater weather. One thing you can always count on this month are deals. Starting with the obvious – School Supplies. Twin Cities Live reporter and resident Super Saver, Kelli Hanson, found three ways to save big in September.

Stores like Target are marking school supplies down, way down in fact. Kelli found backpacks for as low as $12. That’s more than 50% off! She also found notebooks for $0.38. Target employees she talked to said their school supply aisles will be around for another week or so before it’s turned into the Halloween section!

While you’re at Target, don’t forget to check out the clearance on clothing, shoes and accessories. Right now you can find items up to 70% off. Plus use the Cartwheel App and get another 20% off clearance clothing, shoes and accessories! This deal ends on September 22nd.

Another item you’ll find marked down in September are Apple products! Apple launched their new iPhones and iWatch on September 12th. That means you’ll find even better deals on websites like www.gazelle.com. There you can buy used phones, often in mint condition. Kelli found an iPhone 6 Plus on Gazelle’s website for $259, original MSRP $749.

And if you’re planning on flying somewhere for Thanksgiving or Christmas, travel experts say book your flights this month. Websites like www.airfarewatchdog.com, where you can compare prices from several travel websites, show flights from Minneapolis to the Caribbean on sale for as low as $260 round trip.
