Senia Mae, owner of Healing Insight, has shown us how acupuncture can help you live a more holistic life.  Senia goes a step above to live a healthy life. 

Here are her four steps she follows every day:

  1. Take a Probiotic
    Probiotics help replenish good bacteria that can be damaged by diet soda, pesticides in our food, food sensitivities,and sugar.  It overrides bad bacteria that causes bloating, gas, and bowel issues.
     
  2. Drink Water
    Drink half of your body weight in ounces per day or multiply your weight by 2/3 or 67%.  If you weigh 175 pounds, you should be drinking 117 ounces of water every day.  If you workout you need to add more.  Click here to calculate how much water you should be drinking.
     
  3. Eat Healthy Fats
    Women should eat more healthy fat to balance hormones before and after menopause.  It moistens the skin, makes you feel full longer, and tates good!  Forty percent of your diet should come from fat. Examples of healthy fat comes from avocados, coconut oil, and organic butter.
     
  4. Eat Before Exercising
    You only need about 100 calories before you exercise. 
    Examples are 10 almonds, palmful of olives, 1/2 a banana and 1/2 tablespoon of peanut butter, celery and 1/4 cup guacamole, 2 slices of deli turkey with mustard, or slice of cheese and 4 crackers.


If you are hit with an "afternoon slump", Senia has ways to deal with that too!  

  • Eat a carb-free lunch
  • For an afternoon pick me up, eat powdered fruit or greens instead of candy
  • If you crave something sweet, eat frest fruit or (better yet) some fat!
