Farrell’s Guide to Jumpstart Your Health

Setting a New Year’s resolution is the easy part.  The hardest part might be just getting started.  Justin Gordon from Farrell’s Extreme Bodyshaping sets up the steps to take in the next five days to jumpstart your health in 2018.

WEDNESDAY: SET YOUR GOALS
GOOD GOAL VS. BAD GOAL – Some goals can be too generic.  Make sure your goals are specific and measurable. Example of a bad goal: Lose Weight.  Instead, be more specific: Workout for 5 days out of 7 for 10 weeks.

A great app that can help you tract is MY FITNESS PAL.  Even having someone to workout with can make you accountable.  Fitness trackers/wearables are extremely popular.  They constantly remind you to get up and move!

Use NON-FOOD REWARDS.  If weight loss is your goal, buy yourself that piece of clothing you’ve had your eye on when you finally hit your goal.
 

THURSDAY: THROW OUT THE CHRISTMAS COOKIES
GET RID OF THE TEMPTATIONS.  Stock your fridge with veggies you like.  Add lemons or fruits to your water.  If you like fizzy drinks, try a flavored seltzer water.

FRIDAY: FIND YOUR TRIBE
GOING ALONE IN THIS JOURNEY AND GETTING INFLUENCED TO DROP THE HEALTHY CHANGES.  Reach out to people you know have healthy habits.  Let them know your goals for 2018.  Try a group fitness class.  

FARRELL'S IS GROUP FITNESS.  TEAM SETTING. Most gyms have a facebook page - where you can get encouragement, recipes, tips, and ask questions.

If you encounter people who try to throw you off your healthy journey, explain to them why you are on the journey and what program you are doing.  Surround yourself with people who are doing the same thing.  Ask coworkers, friends, and family to help you to stay focused on your goal.

SATURDAY: SET A ROUTINE
TAKE OUT YOUR CALENDER AND SCHEDULE IN YOUR WORKOUTS LIKE MEETINGS – Try working out at the same time every day.  Your body will start to get used to that schedule and will even start to crave the exercise!  Farrell's 10 Week Challenge is a great way to get into a routine.

SUNDAY: PREP FOR SUCCESS
Prepare your food for the week ahead, get some good workout clothes, and pack your bag.
