Floor Makeover

An entire room can be transformed with something as simple as a new floor. Delli Tuholsky of Eagan has a new house, but it doesn’t feel like a home. Yet. Delli went to the folks at Empire Today to get some help.

Delli’s porch floor was covered in old green carpet. She called it the old, ugly sweater carpet. She also hated the tile in her walk ways and by the kitchen. Empire replaced those spots with engineered hardwood. It’s durable, doesn’t collect dirt from her kids’ dogs and it’s quieter.

Empire Today comes in and helps you choose the best flooring for you. They also help measure, plan, move furniture and then will even put it back.

Ryan from Empire Today shares the newest trends in flooring:

Laminate is no longer your grandmother’s laminate.  Printing technology had made some of the wood look finish so realistic you wouldn’t know it wasn’t solid hardwood by looking at it.  It's considerably more durable and scratch resistant than hardwood, so it is a “harder working” floor, but you shouldn’t install this product in full bathrooms or areas with high moisture.

LVP is one of the fastest growing products in the wood look category. It’s easy on your budget, extremely durable, and amazingly easy to maintain.  LVP is available in a wide variety of colors and textures that mimic the look of hardwood.  This product can be used in the hardworking areas of your home, and areas where moisture is a concern like kitchens, bathrooms, and basements.

Ceramic tile is another hot flooring trend especially with some of the emerging technology. It’s perfect for those high-traffic areas of your home.  And, as you can see, tile now features realistic wood looks.  Tile is very easy to maintain and literally can last for decades. These features do come with a higher price point – but for wear and value, it’s hard to beat!
