Seattle Sutton’s Success Stories
TCL Reporter Kelli Hanson has been successful on the Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating Program. It’s helped her put portion sizes into perspective. For many people the program is about taking back their health and their success stories are incredible. Stephanie Keegan from Seattle Sutton’s stopped by to tell us why the program works, no matter the reason for wanting to drop weight.
Missy was a carb stress eater and was too busy to shop and cook while completing her doctoral program. She was on the program for 18-weeks and lost 39 lbs! Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating was great for her lifestyle because they’re convenient. She didn’t have to shop for groceries and didn’t have to prepare dinner every night.
Before she used to stress eat unhealthy carbs like candy, cookies and ice cream. But after completing the program, now Missy snacks on healthy carbs like almonds, fruit and raw fresh veggies. Stephanie says 45-65% of our daily calories should come from carbohydrates. That's equal to about 225 to 325 grams of carbs if you eat 2,000 calories a day. The key is quality, complex carbs and not simple/processed carbs.
After having her son, Tina never lost her pregnancy weight gain and wanted to be active with her son again. She credits the Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating program with helping her lose 42 lbs. The program not only gave her energy to travel and be active with her son, it also taught her what a healthy, balanced diet looks and feels like. Once she started consistently eating healthy, her body functioned differently. This was the lightbulb moment that got her to understand the importance of a consistent, lifelong healthy diet.
John suffered from what many people suffer from – distorted portion control. Seattle Suttons helped him lose 38.5 lbs by eating portion controlled meals. The program’s meal portion size are often surprising though. Stephanie says they are larger than some restaurant meals, but lower in calories. That’s because when you’re eating real, fresh, local food, you can eat more!
Joe was dealing with high blood pressure and high cholesterol and after eating Seattle Sutton’s meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Joe lost 56 lbs. He also lowered his BP and cholesterol and lowered his triglycerides by 625 points. Triglycerides are a type of fat in the blood, which can't dissolve. When you eat, your body converts any calories you don't need right away into triglycerides. That means if you regularly eat more calories than you burn, you may have high triglycerides. Now Joe has a much lower risk of stroke, heart attack and heart disease.
