Good Company: Wayzata Bait and Tackle
We Minnesotans love it here and that is certainly the case during the summer. We like to soak up the nice weather and you can’t talk about summer without mentioning fishing. Wayzata Bait and Tackle is a mom and pop shop that has been helping folks fish for more than forty years. The family run business started in 1973. It was just in the back part of a building when it opened. A couple of years later, it expanded to what it is today. It’s still in the same location off of 394.
This good company offers all the fishing gear and gadgets a beginner or a pro may need. Some of the products are even made on site by some veterans. So, you buy local and you are helping a vet, too. You can also get your rods and reels here. And if your reel breaks, they fix it on site. Those services have been made them unique.
Wayzata Bait and Tackle is a third generation company. It has had its ups and downs. If the weather is bad it can affect business in a big way. Thankfully, they have been able to ride it out. Tim Sonenstahl’s dad and brother started the business. He says there is a lot of pride in what they can offer. His son is also now working for the company. Tim hopes he can keep it going for more generations.
There are all sorts of customers. Many of them start coming here when they are kids. And if you don’t know much about fishing, no problem. Wayzata Bait and Tackle also has guides that can help you from start to finish.
