Good Company: Themed Concepts
Themed Concepts is based in Forest Lake. It's known for its unique approach to making all sorts of creative pieces of art. Art that is used for play and creativity. Themed Concepts has work in zoos, amusement parks, water parks and businesses all over the United States.
It started as more of an industrial business back in 1971. Over the years, there have been some changes in the company’s focus. One big break came from the Minnesota Zoo. When it was being built in 1971, Themed Concepts helped create more realistic environments. The company used a new technology at the time called Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete. That was the beginning of something bigger.
Today, Themed Concepts can really make anything. If you can dream it, they can make it. One of their most over the top projects was in Forest Lake. It is a giant dragon more than twenty feet off the ground. It goes into a tree and is now one of the most popular spots for kids to play in the city.
Themed Concepts is still a family run business after all of these years. It’s important for the company to keep its roots here. They have been instrumental in giving back in big ways. They have even started a project called Play For Change to help donate money to programs here at home and across the country. The project does all sorts of things including helping sick kids have once in a lifetime trips and feeding children who would otherwise not have the means to eat.
