Kemps Ice Cream Flavor Creations
It can be a hard decision to pick out your favorite flavor of ice cream from the grocery store freezer. Did you ever wonder what goes on when creating all of the different flavors? Making a good ice cream is a lot harder than you might think.
Emily headed down to the Kemps ice cream plant in Rochester to see what the process of coming up with a new flavor is all about.
Kemps held the second annual Hometown Favorites Ice Cream Flavor contest. The public had the opportunity to create their dream flavor and see it in the freezer aisle of their local stores. Hundreds of entries were submitted.
The top two flavors have been selected. The finalists flavors will be put into production over the next few weeks will be announced on www.kempsnextflavor.com and on the KempsCows Facebook page on July 30.
Stop by the Kemps booth at the Minnesota State Fair to sample the top two flavors. Kemps will also host a celebrity judging panel of taste experts including last year’s Hometown Favorites contest winner Jen Folkens, creator of Land of 10,000 Licks (available at local stores in August), Joe Mauer’s Mom, Teresa along with surprise judges.
