US Airfighter General Dan Cherry
On April 16, 1972, General Dan Cherry is chasing a Vietnamese MIG plan flown by pilot Hong My. After a cat and mouse chase in the air and a total of six missiles fired, Cherry shoots down the MIG and flies 500 feet past Hong My – who ejected from the plane.
Forty years later, Dan Cherry was reunited with the Vietnamese pilot he shot down who he has since become friends with. For more on General Cherry, and information on his book, click here.
If you would like to meet General Cherry and Hong My and hear more about their story, they will be at the Air Expo this Saturday and Sunday at the Flying Cloud Airport in Eden Prairie.
