Lawn Mower Racing

The Minnesota Lawn Mower Racing Association is putting some fun into a chore that most people hate.  What is normally used to mow your lawn has been changed to a fast racing machine.  Riding lawn mowers are being used to race all over the area and some of the racers compete as far away as Florida and Georgia.  Emily Engberg just had to check out this very extreme sport!

Lawn mower racing has been around for several years across the country but it wasn’t until just five years ago that Minnesota got its own association.  The mowers themselves undergo a little modification, the riders put on their safety gear, and the drivers get down to the serious business of racing.  While there aren’t any big prizes involved, the trophies and bragging rights make it all worth it for these guys.

You can catch a lawn mower racing competition this weekend at the Anoka County Fairgrounds.  The races start at 1 & 5 PM on Saturday.
