April 14, 2010   Let’s play ball…outside!!!!

Baseball has always been a big part of my family’s life. My grandpa played semi-pro baseball. My dad was a public address announcer for a minor league team for several years and to this day, he still announces countless high school games. Some of my favorite memories as a kid involved going to Cubs baseball games. Yes, I know. I grew up a Cubs fan. What do you expect?  I’m from Iowa. You’re either a Cubs fan or a Cardinals fan.

That love for the game has continued over the years. As soon as spring training hits, I get antsy for the start of the season. I couldn’t have picked a better time to move to the Twin Cities. Target Field is amazing. Unlike most people my age here, it’s hard for me to imagine the game ever being played inside.

I was lucky enough to be live for exhibition game excitement at Target Field.

I was also out there as fans got hyped up for Opening Day. Wow!  People were lined up just trying to get a peak inside…even if they didn’t have tickets.

But the highlight of this week has been meeting baseball great, Harmon Killebrew. He visited the TCL set on Tuesday and Elizabeth and I were lucky enough to interview him for the show. What a down to earth, sweet man!  It doesn’t get much better than this. Outdoor baseball and hanging out with legends! Welcome to the Twin Cities!
