They’ve been around before prohibition when Benny Haskell was a bootlegger.  After prohibition, his wife Fritzy Haskell had to be in the legitimate liquor store that they opened when prohibition ended.  Fritzy Haskell also owned the license and that is because Benny was a convicted felon from his bootlegging days.  But Fritzy was not “behind the scenes” at the store.  She decided to sell wine in the store and it’s been on-going since.
