Honey Fig Bars
 

Marjorie Johnson stuck around and showed us all how to make her award winning fig bars.

Honey Fig Bars
 
6 ounces figs
1/4 cup Honey
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 up flaked coconut
 
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
1/2 cup quick cooking rolled oats
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup coconut
 
Cover the figs with water and stand overnight.  Put the figs and 1/2 cup of the fig water in a blender.  Blend till a puree.  You will have 1 1/4 cup of puree.  Add honey, walnuts and coconut.  Set aside.
 
Combine butter, brown sugar and flour.  Reserve 1/2 cup of the mixture and press remaining mixture into an ungreased 8" square pan.  Spread fig filling over it.
 
To reserved topping add the rolled oats and the walnuts.  Sprinkle evenly over the fig filling.  Sprinkle coconut over the top.  Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
