We’re pretty close to the weekend, so it’s time to Get Outta Town! This week we want you to try something sweet, and this is the time of year when maple sap is harvested in Minnesota. We sent TCL Producer Melissa Specken about an hour north-west of the metro to tap some trees in the rain, showing you how to help make real maple syrup!
St. John’s University doesn’t actually sell the maple syrup they make, but they do give it away as gifts! The weekends of March 28, 2009 and April 4, 2009, you can help tap Maple trees, collect buckets and then enjoy a hot maple syrup sundae at the Maple Syrup Festival! The Festival runs from 1PM to 4PM on the St. John’s University campus in Collegeville. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for kids. Click here for more information!
