Heart Healthy Cheese
 

We all know how great cheese tastes, but some types can be hazardous to your health.  “The Cheese Guy” Patrick Moore returned to TCL to show us a few heart healthy cheeses that taste good and are good for you!

Cheese Facts…
-Americans get 25% of their calcium from cheese
-According to the National Dairy Council, cheese helps reduce the risk of hypertension and heart disease

High and Low Salt Cheese – Salt is important in cheese making!
-High Salt Cheeses: Danish Blue, Cheddar, Processed Singles
-Low Salt Cheeses: Cream Cheese, Cottage Cheese

High and Low Fat Cheese – Fat content of cheese is mainly responsible for its flavor and texture, which is why people prefer full fat cheeses!
-High Fat Cheeses: Roquefort, Havarti, Mascarpone
-Low Fat Cheeses: Ricotta, Fromage Frais, Chevres
