Earth Day was actually founded by Senator Gaylor Nelson in 1970 and is celebrated across the nation still today. There are events going on all over the metro throughout the week. Elizabeth joined one of the events to see who was out for the cause. Kim Carlson, Star Tribune Eco-Blogger was one of the supporters she ran into at the walk to raise money for clean water in Minneapolis.
Kim Carlson gave us a few simple easy tips you can do that will make a difference to mother earth.
1) Get out of your car 1 day a week (or more if you can) -- Prop: I will have an electric bike with me from Varsity Bike and Transit http://www.varsitybike.com/
2) Eat less meat -- get into local produce with a CSA -- Prop: A couple of vegetables with me
3) Recycle and buy recycled products -- Prop: A bicycle bag made from recycled juice boxes
If you are inspired to go a little greener this Earth Day, you can see Kim Carlson at the Living Green Expo on May 1st and 2nd at the State Fairgrounds or go to Kim’s website for more tips.
