| New Year, Same Place - February 2, 2010 |
|
I say,”The closer we come to our future, the further we get from our past.” It’s the first of February, Happy 2010 everyone! 2009 was a great year here at the studio; there have been lots of things to remember. Everyday I see myself growing and developing a better sense of how to do my job here to make Hubbard Broadcasting better. 2010 brings on new challenges, a new game plan, and a new attitude. I’ve been here at Hubbard Broadcasting providing them my services since 2008 and it has been an honor being able to have an opportunity to meet the people around here and learn how to do what they do. I hope it will continue to be a successful working experience as a new year comes around. My new year’s resolution for 2010 is to increase my abilities and learn not only how to balance my work and school, but also to accomplish many other things that will keep my internship memorable for years. I hope that this year I’ll be able to learn more and more and get knowledge on how to complete more duties around the station. Lately, I’ve been doing a lot around the station I’ve learned how to check-in an audience at TCL and also how to stay organized and keep things organized. This has been a key skill to have. I am grateful that there are as many people here to help me as there have been, and it has been amazing to see how far I’ve come as an intern here. For example, let’s take it back to 2008. When I first arrived here I was cautious and shy. I kept things to myself. Here in 2010 I have grown more comfortable with the guys I’m around and I can be more loose and my communication has come a long way. Now I do not only see the PA guys as my co-workers, but we’re friends. (Shout out to “Rocky”, Achmed, and Nate) We help each other out, we talk, and we have fun doing our jobs. With the finals at school out of the way, I can be less stressed throughout the weeks and I can put a little more concentration on work then I have been. I knew this job wasn’t going to be a walk through the park but, whew! It was a stressful January, first getting announced Captain of the Crisco Rey Puma’s basketball team and being asked to put a lot of dedication towards the team, then finals for my classes, and then having to balance it all out with work! It was a rocky road but I weathered the storm and I’m ready to continue my road to success. Hopefully 2010 will be just as great as 2009, a month in, and I feel pretty good about where I’m headed. I have a lot of events coming up, and hopefully I’ll keep everyone updated. Look out for my blogs and remember without hard work, we learn nothing. Denzel Kane |
